WHAT: Fellowship Frequently Asked Questions
I don’t have much experience with farming, building, or entrepreneurship. Will I be left behind by the workshops ?
No! We provide unique training that is skill appropriate for beginners as well as folks with experience.
I want to make a portfolio for possible employment or for my college application. Is the Kingston Fellowship the right choice for me?
Fellows will document projects that are appropriate for their portfolios illustrating learning outcomes and skillsets.
I have a paid job, will I be able to continue working while I'm in the fellowship?
The fellowship calendar has been considered to keep active learning days mainly from Monday to Thursday. Fellows can continue working outside of active learning hours, Friday to Sunday and evenings. Check out our program calendar here.
Do I need a car?
Transportation is covered for fellowship programming, including workshops and events. Fellows will need to find their own way to Homeroom, which is centrally located in Kingston, NY. The Place Corps team will work to create an access plan if fellows need support getting to and from Homeroom at the beginning and end of the learning day.
I have a pretty singular passion. Do I need to participate in every workshops, or can I just focus on my one passion?
The Kingston Fellowship includes an interwoven curriculum that supports the growth and development of wholeness in individuals, communities and the earth. For this reason, it is important to participate in the full interdisciplinary curriculum.
I am taking remote classes at college can I still be in the fellowship?
We require fellows to not be active college or high school students. Let Place Corps know how we can support you through the deferral process if that is a step you need to take to attend the Kingston Fellowship! If you have a question about a single class or workshop you want to take alongside Place Corps we are happy to discuss it further with you to see if it can fit with our schedule and program expectations.
English is not my first language. Can I still attend the Kingston Fellowship?
Yes, but a working knowledge of English is necessary as English is the language the program is led in.
