Hello Friends,

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the development of a new Place Corps program! With support from Novo Foundation we are working to develop a transformational learning and leadership program for young residents of Kingston, NY, the ancestral lands of the Munsee Lenape, launching in 2022!

Following a feasibility study conducted with Kingston youth (huge shout-out to our talented design intern team Ava Guralnick, Jessica Alonso, and Briana Gary!), we are incredibly excited to move forward with a whole-systems approach to build a place-specific residential learning opportunity that meets the needs of Kingston residents to know, love, and serve their places. We have published our discovery report on our website for further reading.

The Place Corps team is delighted to continue to connect and build community with Kingston and regional allies and partners. Starting this Spring, we will be spending time volunteering in the field. Want to join us, or want our help growing more good together? We've created a calendar of regional volunteer opportunities on our website and are eager to learn of others to attend and share. This past week, we loved working with the Deer Creek Collective Medicinal Herb Farm! They have drop in volunteer hours on Tuesdays, learn more here. After a year of remote relationships it feels healing to come together outdoors, meet new friends, and get physically involved in helping each other and the earth.

We have been happy to see our 2020 Place Corps cohort blossoming in community with new good work and as always we are happy to see all of your good work seeded and sprouting. Please continue to connect and share with us your projects via social media, reach out for phone conversations, and now walking meetings in the woods are welcome! We are grateful for this opportunity to connect with new and old friends and to intentionally develop this new transformational program in Kingston, NY.

Warmly,

Dawn Breeze
Director
