Communications

Communications: Fellows will learn to articulate ideas and share information clearly, using A diversity of approaches.

What this means: Fellows learn about and practice different ways of communicating, and how to do so in a confident, strategic, and effective way.

Such as…

Digital Literacy: This is a key skill in todays world and an integral part of Place Corps’ curriculum. Digital Literacy workshops introduce fellows to google suite, email conventions, digital and social media hygiene, and more.

These skills are put into to practice throughout programming. Knowing how to send well written emails is essential to entering the professional world, just as knowing how to use and format documents and spreadsheets, presentations, invoices, and so on.

Professional Development: Fellows will learn how to write and build resumes and cover letters, how to interview and search for jobs, and how to build a professional plan, while receiving support during the fellowship as they put their professional development skills into action.

Community Engagement: During the fellowship Place Corps fellows will engage in a wide variety of service projects, such as developing accessibility tools in Kingston, or making resources for people who menstruate publicly available. Fellows learn to ask questions in their community, to observe and articulate what is needed, to spread the word, and to share information using many forms of communication such as writing, conversation, printmaking, and more.
