2023-2024 FOOD PARTNERS
These are the organizations that supply us with the nutritious ingredients for our weekly meals and food program: Kingston YMCA Farm Project, Glynwood Center for Regional Food and Farming, and Churchtown Dairy.
The Kingston YMCA Farm Project’s mission is to educate, nourish and connect the Kingston community with our urban farm. It is an urban, educational farm located at the YMCA in Midtown Kingston, New York. We use organic growing methods to grow food for our immediate community. We sell our hyper local fruits and vegetables at farm stands in the lobby of the Y. We work with pre-schoolers through high-schoolers, bringing young people to the farm to get their hands dirty as they learn, work, explore and play on the farm. Our youth development program offers 14-18 year olds the opportunity to work on our farm, help run our farm stands and gain valuable employment experience while earning an hourly wage.
The Glynwood Center for Regional Food and Farming is a non-profit organization serving food and farming changemakers from New York’s Hudson Valley and beyond. Glynwood advances local food production here in our region, as well as educate a national audience about efforts to regionalize food and agriculture. They are inspired by, and contribute to, aligned work far beyond the borders of the Hudson Valley. Guided by the highest standards of ecosystem, soil, animal and community well-being, Glynwood promotes regenerative agriculture in service of our natural environment, local economies and human health.
Churchtown Dairy aims to be a beacon, warning against the destruction done by “Big Ag” while promoting regenerative organic farming practices in harmony with nature and in alignment with animal, plant, and microbial life. Chruchtwon uses biodynamic principles that enhance and deepen our relationship with the Earth. They strive to nurture a growing community of local, national, and global allies. Churchtown is an accessible resource for farmers, scholars, educators, entrepreneurs, and the generally curious. They provide access to healthy foods and products including raw milk, farmstead cheese, grass-fed beef, eggs, and medicinal remedies.
